Yousef is a Research Fellow in the School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences. His research focuses on geochronology, tectonics, paleogeography, and the study of modern and ancient sedimentary systems—all aimed at illuminating continental‑crust evolution. He specializes in tracing the “life story” of individual mineral grains—from crystallization in source rocks, through sediment transport, to final basin deposition—using integrated methods such as in‑situ geochronology, isotopic and geochemical analysis of single grains, whole‑rock geochemistry, and field observations.

Yousef completed his PhD in Geology at Monash University in 2023. His thesis employed multi‑mineral detrital provenance analysis to unravel sediment recycling, tectonic events, and paleogeography in northern Gondwana. He then began a postdoctoral fellowship at Monash University focused on the evolution of early continental crust in the Archean Singhbhum Craton of eastern India.

Yousef enjoys both fieldwork and laboratory research.
