Focus Area: Quantifying the socio-ecological benefits of community participation in coastal restoration

Supervisors: Dominic McAfee and Professor Sean Connell

Driven by a passion for conserving and restoring marine ecosystems, my goal is to provide insights that support effective, community-centered restoration practices for enduring ecological and social benefit.

As a Master's student in marine ecology, my research is focused on quantifying the socio-ecological benefits of community-led coastal restoration efforts. I am particularly interested in how community participation in projects like native oyster reef and coastal dune restoration can enhance ecological resilience while fostering positive social and educational outcomes. By examining aspects such as water quality improvement, biodiversity, community commitment, and the benefits to young participants, my work seeks to highlight the interconnected gains of environmental stewardship.
