As a researcher and occupational therapist (AHPRA Registration #1751582), I focus on understanding and addressing the inequalities that exclude marginalised people from participation and social inclusion. My work and research has largely taken place in rural and remote parts of Western Australia and the Northern Territory, exploring the ongoing impact of colonisation and racism and how this influences health services. My research and education focus is currently on supporting the development of intercultural competency and valuing diverse knowledge systems in research that centres epistemic justice.
Research interests:
- Antiracist and decolonised healthcare delivery
- Rural and remote healthcare
- Cultural competency and intercultural practice.
- Occupational justice and barriers to social inclusion
- Participatory approaches to knowledge cocreation and codesign
- Restorative occupations and enabling occupational transition and recovery from sexual slavery.

I have experience coordinating and teaching community and population approaches to occupational therapy (cohort sizes of up to 280 students). I also have supervised student projects in community contexts. I am passionate about using transformational learning pedagogy to develop the critical reflexivity of future health professionals regarding culture, power and privilege in order to develop anti-oppressive professional practice.
