Shae Maple is a PhD candidate at Adelaide University and an experienced sonographer specialising in ultrasound-based diagnosis of endometriosis. Her research focuses on improving diagnostic accuracy and accessibility through evidence-based imaging and patient-centred ultrasound care. She has published in leading peer-reviewed journals, presented conferences, and provided expert evidence to the South Australian Parliamentary Select Committee on Endometriosis.

Shae’s research focuses on advancing ultrasound based diagnosis of endometriosis and improving patient-centred approaches to pelvic ultrasound. Her Master’s and PhD research investigates the diagnostic reproducibility of ultrasound techniques, the development of evidence-based imaging protocols, and the potential role of AI-assisted tools in supporting earlier and more consistent diagnosis.

A key component of her work examines patient experience, consent, and trauma-informed practice in ultrasound care, with a particular focus on adolescents and other under-represented populations. Her research aims to reduce diagnostic delay, improve access to high-quality imaging, and inform clinical practice and health policy.
