Mathew O'Brien

My research is focused on community perception of blue carbon projects within Indonesia that are foreign donor-funded. I want to focus on how blue carbon financing is communicated to people seemingly distant from global climate commitments yet directly impacted by such objectives that governments determine.  Engaging with case studies in multiple locations, I will focus on the local experiences and levels of input with different stages of projects such as design, operation, and post-implementation. From this I want to determine whether each stakeholders can articulate the aims and goals of projects. I also aim to gain insight into the geo-economics of marine resources, engagement methods, program responsiveness, and how these factors impact project outcomes.
