Dr. Mehar Khatkar is a senior researcher extensive experience in advanced genomics, AI, and phenomics for precision farming. His work seamlessly integrates traditional animal breeding with cutting-edge machine learning techniques to optimize livestock productivity, health, and wellbeing.

Research Interests

- Smart farming applications utilizing high-throughput phenomics, genomics, and AI/ML techniques for effective management and selective breeding in livestock and aquaculture
- Advanced breeding designs leveraging genomic information for genetic improvement across various species
- Whole genome prediction methods for health and performance traits
- Gene discovery through association, homozygosity and QTL mapping, meta-analysis, and selection signature studies

Dr. Khatkar's extensive research experience spans a wide range of species, including cattle, sheep, shrimp, oyster, poultry, buffalo, dog, horse, and camel. His particular focus lies in decoding genomes using molecular markers and applying genomic information for genetic improvement of livestock and aquaculture species. By combining his deep understanding of genetic mechanisms with innovative AI approaches, he is at the forefront of developing precision farming techniques that promise to revolutionise the agricultural industry.
