Dr Marina Salles Munerato

Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesiology

School of Animal and Veterinary Science

Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology

My academic journey started at FCAV-Unesp in Jaboticabal, Brazil, where I graduated in 2005. In the same year, I promptly enrolled in the master's program in Veterinary Surgery with a specialization in Anaesthesiology at the institution that I graduate from. Continuing my academic pursuit, I successfully obtained a Ph.D. in the same program in 2012, with a focus on wildlife anaesthesia and stress of capture. This research exposed me to the intricacies of anaesthetizing South American deer species, both in captivity and in the wild.
In 2013, I embraced a post-doctorate position at FCAV-Unesp, Jaboticabal, where I continued my work in anaesthesia, with focus in mules. Additionally, I served as a co-supervisor for master's and DVM students, sharing my expertise and knowledge.
In 2014, a new challenge led me to join the Brazilian Army as a 2nd Lieutenant as an Equine Veterinarian. The year 2016 marked a significant change as my family and I immigrated to Australia. I successfully completed the ECFVG program from AVMA and passed the NAVLE, which allowed me to practice as a veterinarian in Australia. From 2019 to 2021, I worked as a GP veterinarian in Alice Springs, gaining valuable experience in remote veterinary medicine, including providing services to Aboriginal communities. In 2022, I enrolled as a Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesiology returning to the academy and since then I am interested in developing research in simulation-based education and continuing to endeavour in the anaesthesia research field.
