My research is centred on the design and development of advanced nanomaterials for drug delivery, biomimetic systems, and sustainable technologies. A key focus is the engineering of polymeric and lipid nanoparticles with high drug-loading capacity, targeted delivery, and controlled release properties. I also work on microfluidic-based nanoparticle synthesis and advanced drying techniques to improve stability and scalability.
In addition to drug delivery, my research explores biofunctional materials, including peptides, proteins, and stimuli-responsive systems. I investigate how material properties influence cellular interactions, immune responses, and therapeutic efficacy. My work extends to the development of biomolecules for mineral processing, contributing to environmentally sustainable approaches in resource industries.
Through my NHMRC Fellowship, I am investigating novel chemoimmunotherapy strategies for cancer therapy, focusing on nanoparticle-based immunomodulators to enhance treatment effectiveness while minimising side effects. My broader research interests involve bridging fundamental nanomaterial science with practical applications, contributing to advancements in healthcare and industrial biotechnology.
