Dr Manasi Mittinty

School of Dentistry

College of Health

In August 2017, Dr Manasi Mittinty obtained her PhD in Medicine, entitled ‘Vitamin D deficiency and its role in chronic nonspecific musculoskeletal pain.’ She examined the role of vitamin D (deficiency and supplementation) in chronic nonspecific musculoskeletal pain, from primary health care and patient perspective. She also investigated the intricate role play between psychological and social factors on persistent pain. In her post-doctoral researcher role at the Indigenous oral health Unit she is investigating how psychological and social factors impact individuals experiencing chronic pain, with a specific focus on Indigenous Australians.

Manasi M Mittinty is a research associate in the Indigenous Oral Health Unit under the mentorship of Prof Lisa Jamieson. She completed her PhD in Medicine at the University of Adelaide, where her research focused on examining the role of vitamin D deficiency on chronic nonspecific musculoskeletal pain.

During her PhD studies, she broadened her research interests to include pain and pain education, patient-provider relationship and patient expected outcomes.

Currently, her primary research interest is investigating role of fear of pain and coping styles on patients’ expectations of recovery, using FOP-III Questionnaire, and to develop innovative approaches to treat chronic pain patients.
