My research will aim to focus on improving the understanding of the operating mechanisms of a rotating detonation engine. In particular, through computational fluid dynamics analysis, as well as alternative numerical modelling, I am aiming to understand the influence of turbulence across the detonation front to help understand the stabilising mechanisms behind propagation. As a result of this, this type of advanced aerospace engine will become a more viable option for low pollutant propulsion and power generation.
