Mr Mitchell Nicmanis
School of Psychology
College of Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences
I am a PhD student in the School of Psychology conducting research in the field of health psychology. My PhD research focuses on the experiences of people living with a cardiac implantable electronic device (including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices). Beyond the primary focus of my PhD, I am broadly interested in the intersection of people and healthcare, particularly how the relationships between physical, psychological, and social health influence people's experiences.Alongside this, I am passionate about qualitative research methodologies and methods, specifically descriptive qualitative approaches and content analysis. My work in this area has focused on developing reflexive content analysis, a method that incorporates reflexivity throughout the analysis process to produce rich descriptions of qualitative data. In addition, I am currently conducting research exploring the role of artificial intelligence in both healthcare and qualitative research.
