Research Aims
My research focusses on sustainable engineering practices and is primarily centered on providing the experimental results and material designs necessary to transition the concrete industry to a circular economy. This can be done through material reuse, prolonged material service life or other sustainable methods. Current experimental research activities include;
- The use and optimisation of single (RAC) and multi-generation recycled aggregate concrete (MGRAC)
- Mix design
- Physical and mechanical performance
- Durability, both time dependent and under varying chemical exposure
- Material shear friction and reinforced concrete (RC) shear performance
- Flexural performance of RC members
- Tension stiffening and related mechanisms
- Life cycle assessment
- Suplementary cementitous material development and characterisation
- long term creep and shrinkage behaviour of ultra-high performance fibre reinforced concrete (UHPFRC)
I have a passion for environmental sustainability in the build environment and hope to assist in the industrial application of these more sustainable materials and methods.
