Senior Lecturer

School of Public Health

Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

Dr Athar Qureshi is an established academic. He teaches a wide range of courses in enterprise transformation, people, leadership, organisational change, behaviour, services and management at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels using a strategy and system's thinking development focus. He is particularly interested in developing healthcare cohorts.

Dr Qureshi joined us from the University of South Australia with over 20 years of experience in curriculum development and educational delivery across four different countries. His industry and educational background enable him to mentor and coach students on the application of theory to practice. He is an engaging and highly energetic speaker who involves the audience and provide opportunities for a positive learning experience. Allowing learning through participation, self-reflection and interactive problem solving, Dr Qureshi achieves exemplary student outcomes – both in teaching feedback from students and peers, and learning outcomes for individuals and teams. He joined us with a SELT score that was more than double compared to his university's average score of 40.

Athar’s approach to development in both teaching and research is through effective strategy and management and active learning and absorption of knowledge. This approach cultivates innovation, resilience and performance. Knowledge comes from the learning experience and, as a result, individuals can push back their boundaries, embrace change and accept risks.

Dr Qureshi received a research grant to work on the digital enterprise transformation of the healthcare industry. As a chief investigator, he is working with industry partners and leading an interdisciplinary team into the strategic consequences of digital transformation.

Athar holds a Doctor of Philosophy, Master in ICT Management and an Honours in Computer Sciences. He is also a Certified Knowledge Manager. For his PhD, Athar was awarded two scholarships to investigate strategic pathways to develop innovation capability in healthcare organisations. Dr Qureshi’s current research expands this area and focuses on innovation strategy and digital transformation strategy in healthcare organisations. He presented and published high-impact scientific articles, and maintains a passion for research and publications with unique expertise in qualitative research.

While advising PhD and research students, Dr Qureshi also provides consultancy and leads masterclasses and workshops. He is open to invitations to deliver keynotes, masterclasses and training.
