I research modern and contemporary Australian literature and theatre. I have particular interests in biography, theatre history and comedy.

I am currently a Chief Investigator on a large Australian Research Council funded Linkage project. entitled 'Comedy Country: Australian Performance Comedy as an Agent of Change'. There are three universities and nine industry partners participating in this project. 

I have previously held a National Library of Australia Fellowship, a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award to Harvard University, an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship, and two Australian Research Council Discovery Grants.
