Dr Hassen Mohammed is a perinatal infectious-disease epidemiologist specialising in maternal, paediatric, and adult vaccine research. Since commencing his PhD in 2017 (awarded 2021), he has published 22 peer-reviewed papers, including 10 as first author. His expertise spans large observational cohort studies, perinatal data linkage, and systematic reviews that inform vaccine policy and improve maternal and child health outcomes. Dr Mohammed works within the Vaccine Program Evaluation team, contributing to commissioned evaluations for SA Health, including South Australia’s influenza vaccine distribution, COVID-19 vaccine program, and school immunisation programs. He has also contribute to commissioned evaluations and drafting advice for the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI). He has secured competitive research funding, including the 2025 Lloyd Cox Research Accelerator Grant ($60,000) and the 2024 WCHN Spark Seed Grant ($50,000) to support evaluation of antenatal immunisation programs. He also serves as a Research Scholar within the Centres of Research Excellence in Neisseria disease. control.
