My key areas of research, policy input and publication are public health law, (notably communicable disease, environmental health, radiation and food and drug law). My scholarly outputs in this field include 3 books (the most recent being Public and Environmental Health Law, 2011) together with many articles and book chapters. I have spoken at conferences both in Australia and New Zealand as a keynote speaker and also in the United States and am regarded as one of the leaders in the field of public health law in Australasia. Particular projects involve:
- Director (Research) at the National Centre for Public Health Law based at Melbourne’s La Trobe University (2002-2005)
- Principal investigator in the nationalHealthy Laws Project, exploring the potential for legislation to respond to obesity related diseases (2015-2017).
- Investigator in a study of the effective incorporation of non-communicable disease controls into general public health law (ongoing, pending funding application)
