I am a Lecturer (teaching specialist) in the School of Public Health, with research interests in:- the sociology of recreational drug and alcohol use- public health ethics & medical bioethics- health communicationMy primary teaching areas are in health communication, academic literacy, and health ethics.
I am interested in qualitative and ethical drug and alcohol studies, particularly as relates to the social significance of alcohol and drug consumption, the ethics of public policy, and student learning & wellbeing.
If you're interested in working with me on a Summer Scholarship project, I have two Systematic Review projects available:
- How do illicit drug users find information about safe drug use?
- How do recreational drug users incorporate their drug use into their identity?
My PhD project examined low-risk drinkers and whether it’s ethically justifiable to intervene in their alcohol consumption in connection with the ARC Linkage Project "Public and ethical responses to mandated alcohol warning labels about increased long-term risk of cancer" (LP120200175). My supervisors were Associate Professor Jaklin Eliott, Dr Drew Carter, and Professor Annette Braunack-Mayer.

Course Co-Coordinator: HTLH SC 2012 Hacking Health (2022-ongoing). This course teaches Knowledge Translation practices.
In addition to my co-coordination of HLTH SC 2012, I lecture, teach and mark into a number of other courses across generalist public health, sociology of health, health systems, health ethics, research methods, health communication, and academic literacies.
