Dr Mel Hull is a Program Facilitator (Health & UniStart) at UniSA Online. Mel provides leadership and support to the delivery and ongoing development and quality assurance of UniSA Online programs. Her role involves supporting a team of Online Course Facilitators to and key stakeholders from Academic Units to ensure online students receive high quality learning experiences.
Prior to joining UO, Mel worked as a lecturer, course coordinator and tutor across a wide range of courses primarily in the Bachelor of Human Movement and Bachelor of Exercise & Sports Science degrees. Mel is passionate about the opportunities provided by online learning, and in particular helping students to link the course content to real world applications.
Mel was awarded her PhD (Public Health) in 2019. Her project sought to understand barriers to help-seeking and health service utilisation that affect at-risk rural populations (farmers). Mel also brings significant research experience to her teaching role. Mel has an extensive background as a project manager and research assistant across numerous health research projects. Her most recent work has focused on older adults, she has experience working with participants across the lifespan, and across community groups focusing on co-creation approaches.
Mel maintains an active research interest, as an ARENA and CAIN Lab associate member, with skills across both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including mixed methods evaluation writing. She maintains close working relationships with a number of community groups and industry partners including the Australian Health Promotion Association, where she holds formal leadership roles both nationally and for the SA branch.
