Dr Rian Sutton (she/her) is an Online Course Facilitator for the Bachelor of Criminal Justice and the Bachelor of Psychological Science and Sociology. Her work involves collaborating with departmental and tutoring staff to deliver high-quality online education. 
Rian has experience teaching across topics in criminology, sociology, and history. In the past she has undertaken roles as a tutor and guest lecturer at a number of universities in the UK and Australia. She is particularly passionate about encouraging students to examine gender as a social category in both historical and contemporary contexts. Her research interests are in the intersection of gender and crime with a focus on violent female offenders and their experiences in the criminal justice system and representation in the media. Her PhD examined women on trial for homicide in New York City and London, 1880 ­– 1914. Rian holds a PhD in History, a Masters in Gender History, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and History.
