Fernando joined the centre in October 2020 as a Research Assisitant for the Western Australian team. Fernando is an economist with a special interest in the analysis of social and economic disadvantage, social determinants of health, health economics and biostatistics. In his career he has had extensive experience in statistical methods and data analysis. He has been involved in various projects utilising linked administrative data, mainly focused on investigating and understanding the outcomes for young people involved with the child protection system. More broadly, Fernando has been involved in projects analysing health, mental health, educational and justice outcomes for children in Western Australia, including research on alcohol related harm and mental health issues among WA children.
