Thanks for visiting the home page of Bec Perry. Bec is the Program Director as well as the Cardiac program stream coordinator for the Medical Sonography program within the UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance Unit. She has been a clinical cardiac sonographer since 1998 and has been involved in research and advanced echocardiographic techniques since 2003. She has extensive experience in advanced echocardiographic techniques such as strain and 3-D echocardiography. She completed her PhD in 2013 and has presented extensively both nationally and internationally as an abstract presenter, invited speaker and member of faculty.  She completed her Post-Doctoral Fellowship through the National Heart Foundation based at Flinders University in 2018. She has published abstracts, manuscripts and a book chapter on topics such as dyssynchrony, coronary vasomotion, speckle tracking, strain and 3-D echocardiography. 
She is a mid-career researcher who is considered a national and international leader in advanced echocardiography. This is evidenced by multiple speaker invitations at international, national and local conferences. She has recently been an invited speaker at international conferences such as the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI - 2023), the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE – 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024) European Society of Cardiology (ESC - 2020) and national conferences such as the Australian Sonographers Association (ASA, regularly since 2007) and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ – regularly since 2006).
She has published over 45 peer reviewed journal articles in her career. Her H-index is 15 and her publications have had over 600 citations. She has won over $350,000 in competitive grant funding. Her Heart Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship focused on predictors of sudden cardiac death. The manuscript of this study was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Imaging – the highest-ranking cardiac imaging journal. She has been on multiple scientific meeting committees for major national cardiology and echocardiography meetings as well as an invited speaker and member of faculty.
