College of Health

Eligible to supervise Masters and PhD - email supervisor to discuss availability.

I am an Enterprise Fellow in Pharmacy, working in UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences.  My research focusses on identifying and resolving quality use of medicines issues in older people. From 2016-2021 I held an NHMRC-ARC Dementia Research Development fellowship, which investigated the role of medicines in causing or worsening cognitive impairment. My research interests include quality use of medicines, medication safety, dementia and pharmacoepidemiology. I am also interested in studying how pharmacists can improve the quality use of medicines and reduce medication related harm for patients.
I have supervised PhD students undertaking research investigating the role of pharmacists in the detection, prevention and treatment of delirium in elderly hospital patients; multimorbidity, polypharmacy and the identification of patients at high risk of adverse medicine events; and the prevalence and types of medication related problems experienced by people with dementia. I currently supervise PhD students investigating the role of hospital pharmacists in reducing medication related harm through participation in ward rounds, and the extent and preventability of medication related hospital admissions in people with mental health conditions.
