Welcome to my homepage. I’m a Course coordinator and Lecturer in the Clinical Exercise Physiology program here at UniSA. Presently, I teach into and coordinate courses for both 3rd and 4th year students and thoroughly enjoy practically based teaching and learning. I have a passion for exercise intervention in neurological patients and the use of exercise to not only improve health but to capacity build in people living with intellectual disability.
I am an accredited exercise physiologist and have practical experience in working with clients presenting with a wide range of chronic and/or complex conditions but particularly neurological presentations. At present the majority of my clinical practice centres on work within the disability space and online behaviour change intervention.
My research journey began with investigation of the impact of certain illicit drug use on voluntary muscular activation during fatiguing exercise. My research in the field of neuroscience has allowed me to investigate muscular activation changes seen to accompany both neurological abnormality (associated with neurodegenerative conditions) and use of certain illicit drugs respectively. My passion for health, exercise and the management of chronic and complex conditions has evolved with time and seen me pursue projects that investigate how exercise can be used to not only improve various health outcomes but also build capacity, community engagement and foster the creation of valued roles within community for people living with disability.
