Simon Walsh has taught at all levels of the German Studies Program at Adelaide. He received his PhD in German Studies in 2015 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and also holds an MSc. in Theoretical and Historical Psychology from the University of Calgary. His ongoing research concentrates on the social and cultural role of music in twentieth-century Austrian and German literature.

He is currently preparing a book manuscript based on his dissertation and carrying the working title: The Sound of Music, National Identity and the National Socialist Past in Postwar Austrian Literature.
