Frank Rarity is an adjunct lecturer and postdoctoral consultant geologist at the Australian School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide. Frank has ten years of experience working in industry linked research with strong expertise in sedimentology and stratigraphy, coastal geomorphology, syn-rift tectono-stratigraphy, reservoir modelling and the use of digital survey tools for studying modern and ancient depositional systems. Frank holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, an MSc in Geodetic Surveying from the University of Nottingham and a BSc in Geological Sciences from the University of Plymouth.

Teaching

Frank is currently an adjunct lecturer at the University. His primary teaching responsibilities include sedimentology, stratigraphy and reservoir modelling for undergratuate, honours and masters students.

  • Oct16 to Apr17. Principal investigator for a six month consultancy project for Santos Ltd investigating the sedimentology and palaeogeography of the Elang Formation, Bonaparte Basin, NW Shelf, Australia.
  • Jan16 to Apr16. Principal investigator for a three month consultancy project for Santos Ltd investigating the palaeogeography and petroleum prospectivity of the Toro and Digimu sandstones, Papua New Guinea.
  • Oct14 to Dec14. Principal investigator for a two month research project with Woodside Ltd investigating the depositional uncertainty and petroleum prospectivity of the Brigadier Formation, NW Shelf, Australia.

Frank is currently an adjunct lecturer at the University. His primary teaching responsibilities include sedimentology, stratigraphy and reservoir modelling for undergratuate, honours and masters students studying Petroleum Engineering and Petroleum Geoscience at the Australian School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide. This includes leading and co-leading geological fieldtrips at all levels. Supervision and marking of Hons/MSc dissertation projects and developing practical assessments and exams. Course-coordinator (2015 to 2016) for Fundamentals of Petroleum Geoscience (Hons/MSc).
