David Lang
Elder Conservatorium of Music
Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics
David John Lang is a composer, writer and conductor. He is interested in telling stories through music, either in his own compositions or through his writing of concert program notes for other people's music. For his current research, he is exploring the capacity of "theme and variation" form to carry musical narratives in his own creative practice as a composer.
David writes music for orchestras, choirs, singers and instrumentalists and has been commissioned and performed by many individuals and organisations around Australia. He plays trumpet in the Adelaide Wind Orchestra and is a freelance writer of program notes for classical music concerts.
