I have been working on the interaction between barley and P. teres f. teres (Ptt) and identified some novel proteins involve in symptom development in barley plants during pathogenicity process. More recently, to find out the actual role of one of those proteins (cerato-platanin) in barley-Ptt interaction, the CP gene was knocked out using targeted gene replacement method.
I am currently working on the Identification of genes in barley cultivars associated with susceptibility/resistance and sensitivity/insensitivity to Ptt and it's phytotoxic proteins.
As part of my research career, I have worked on the identification of vegetable pathogens as well as management of their associated diseases. To manage such diseases, I have tested a combination of different means and materials. This part of my research career, made me experienced in designing, carrying out research experiments and data collection and analysis of the data both at green house and field conditions.

  1. Plant-Pathogen Interaction,
  2. Pyrenophora teres phytotoxic proteins role in pathogenicity,
  3. Targeted gene replacement in P. teres using a polyethylene glycol (PEG)-mediated transformation system,
  4. Identification of genes in barley cultivars associated with susceptibility/resistance and sensitivity/insensitivity to P. teres f. teres and Ptt phytotoxic proteins,

I have some teaching experience with undergraduate students overseas. I have also mentored undergraduate students for their discovery experience course at the University of Adelaide for two years.
