Wenzhu David Tang is a postdoctoral researcher in the Water, Environment and Food economics policy group (WEF), School of Economics and Public Policy, University of Adelaide.

His current major research field is in Australian water study and his general research interest is in new technology applications and behavioural market & consumer study. At the moment, he is looking at the bargaining power in the MDB water market.

In mid 2023, he completed his research work in the Department for Energy and Mining (DEM), Government of South Australia on Optimising the location for renewable energy recharge stations in SA (report and slide deck).

His PhD (Sep/2019-May/2023) was basically investigating online market consumer behaviour with flexible data approaches. The research topic was "Investigating online market consumer behaviour applying spatial, big data and machine learning approaches: cases in Daigou, e-commerce platform and the NFT market". He also co-authored research on agricultural economics and public policy.

For 2022-2023, he honed and polished his technical skills in applying AI tools in the systematic literature review (SLR) while in Centre for Global Food and Resources (GFAR). This is widely presented to HDR students and researchers in schools of the University of Adelaide and also other universities around Australia.

For 2021-2022, he worked on the price formation process for online infant formula products, elaborating on the role of user-generated comments. He applied Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods to examine the role of user-generated comments on the product in this process. Also, he studied the bargaining power of trading parties in the NFT crypto market using Ethereum blockchain NFT transaction data.

For 2017-2021, he studied the Daigou (informal cross-border e-commerce practice) phenomenon and its ecology. From 2018 to 2023, he also worked as a research assistant for several programmes on the Australian mango business, water policy, park interventions, and Chinese food survey.
