I have been involved with clinical outcomes research and project management of scientific information over the last 20 years. Over this time I have assisted Orthopaedic clinicians, including students and overseas fellows with research projects including supervision, data collection, analysis, feedback and editing on presentations and publication. My program of research has focussed on outcomes studies in musculoskeletal diseases in young patients having joint replacement or joint reconstruction, and in older patients who have complex re-operations following their primary joint replacement and treatment in these patients. Research work has been presented via podium and poster presentation at several large national and international conferences as well as publication in international peer reviewed journals. My other main role is to manage the Quality Assurance Outcomes Program which enables clinical auditing and clinical outcomes research to clinicians, other allied health and research staff and collaborating Adelaide University staff. This information is also important in providing important key performance indicators to the Royal Adelaide Hospital and SA Health Service and also to the AOANJRR when required. This involves database management, data extraction and analysis and reporting.
