My research falls within the field of clinical neuropsychology, which examines the cognitive, emotional and behavioural changes associated with different types of brain damage and brain dysfunction.

I am particularly interested in adult traumatic brain injury, but I am also involved in research examining pediatric traumatic brain injury, stroke, dementia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and other conditions that can affect cognitive or emotional functioning.

My research is largely quantitative in nature, with a particular focus on meta-analyses that consolidate existing research in various areas of clinical neuropsychology.

My current research projects, including those of my research students, largely fall within the broad area of clinical neuropsychology.  To this end, they examine the cognitive and/or psychological consequences of brain damage or dysfunction that occurs as a result of a variety of neurological and medical disorders.

With few exceptions, this research uses a quantitative approach and primarily focuses on adult disorders.  I have a particular interest in meta-analyses to address a research question and synthesize the research findings, and have now published over 30 such studies.  Meta-analyses all have their unique challenges, which makes them particularly interesting to undertake.

My research spans multiple clinical groups, including traumatic brain injury, dementia, stroke, multiple sclerosis, mild cognitive impairment, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, cancer, and spinal injury.
