Helen Walton

Dr Helen Walton has been working as a research officer at FES since May 2018 where she is employed to contribute to the qualitative component of baseline research being conducted on the Cashless Debit Card (CDC) trial in the Goldfields in Western Australia. In this role, she is conducting interviews with both stakeholders and CDC participants in the region and providing support with project management in particular engagement, recruitment and data management.

Helen was a Research Associate at NILS from 2014 to 2017. In this position, Dr Walton worked in a team undertaking the qualitative component of the NILS-led Evaluation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) focussing on interviews with disability service providers and NDIA staff including the Evaluation of the NDIS in the Northern Territory. She has also been involved in the qualitative component of the 2016 National Aged Care Workforce Census and Survey and the Research and Data Working Group (RDWG) Disability Research Project conducting interviews and analysis with a diverse range of participants.

Helen has extensive experience as a research assistant having worked on qualitative research projects at Flinders University and the University of South Australia prior to joining NILS. Dr Walton has been involved in project development and management, literature reviews, recruiting participants, conducting in-depth interviews, leading focus groups, managing, analysing and interpreting qualitative data and reporting on a wide range of longitudinal and cross sectional projects. These projects have given her significant experience working in collaborative environments as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
