Dr Arash Ghanbarzadegan is an adjunct lecturer at the University of Adelaide Dental School and lecturer and research fellow based at the University of Sydney. Arash's research areas are evidence-based policy, oral health services, inequality research and the ageing population's oral health.
Dr Ghanbarzadegan introduced a new concept model of inequality in dental services (i.e. Triangle of Inequality in Dental Services). He also added new insights into counterfactual multiple mediation and sensitivity analysis using the Ratio of Mediator Probability Weighting (RMPW) approach.
Dr Ghanbarzadegan is a health systems researcher utilising qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method methodologies. In addition to his role at Sydney Dental School, he works with the Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics, The University of Sydney. In his roles, he works closely with institutional partners such as the Centre for Oral Health Strategy and NSW Health. He is responsible for quantitative policy analysis and supports the evaluation team of the Primary School Mobile Dental Program.

Prospective research candidates aiming for higher degrees (MPhil, PhD) are encouraged to reach out for a discussion regarding the availability of projects. Here are some available projects, but there are more too:

· NSW Primary School Mobile Dental Program (PSMDP)

Summary: Launched in July 2019 in NSW's five local health districts, the PSMDP offers free dental care to children attending participating primary schools. The program, delivered by experienced NSW Health staff using equipped dental vans and portable equipment on school grounds, focuses on care access.

· NSAOH and NDTIS Data Analysis

Summary: The NSAOH is a national oral health survey of Australians aged 15 and above, comprising the NDTIS and oral epidemiological examinations. Investigating various aspects, it follows previous national surveys and gathers crucial insights.

· Rapid Health Information Nexus for Oral Health (RHINO)

Summary: This project focuses on creating a conceptual framework for rapidly integrating self-reported patient history into clinical practice. The goal is efficient integration within the existing Electronic Health Records platform, engaging stakeholders and consumers for system design.
