I am working cross-culturally with women from the Afghan and South Sudanese refugee communities in South Australia using a community-based participatory approach to explore conceptualisations of mental health and how this may influence help-seeking for mental health issues.
I am undertaking a combined PhD/Master of Clinical Psychology program under the supervision of Martha Augoustinos, Clemmence Due and Linley Denson.
I am currently in my first year and investigating barriers to help-seeking behaviours and understandings of mental health in culturally diverse refugee communities in South Australia.
My research interests are predominantly qualitative. My honours thesis involved the use of discourse and conversation analysis, and my current PhD work will involve qualitative interviews and thematic analysis. I am interested in social, political and developmental psychologoy, as well as working cross-culturally with refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and Indigenous Australians.
